In-game name: Florentb18
Discord username: Florentb18

Age: 23
SteamID :STEAM_0:0:27129625 or https://steamid.io/lookup/76561198014524978

Region : EU
Active
Warns: None
Timezone: UTC + 2
Current Playtime: 1 d and around 16 hours or more ( at the time that I am writting this, the roles were removed ingame and my playtime got resetted..)
Do you have access to Discord and a microphone?: Yes.
Are you a member of the
Pill Pack H&S Discord?: Yes.
Do you have the ability to record Garry's Mod videos?: Yes.
Referral(s): No one.
Past experiences as staff: The experience as staff that I have is too old for me to remember correctly but I didn't have any real experience when I was part of some staff.

Why should we choose you over other applicants?:

I have been on the server for awhile now, I want to show how serious and capable I am to the other Moderators and to the Owners. I gave my previous application with less good reasons and not enough context about myself. That is one of the reasons that I chose to apply again for being a Moderator.

I do not have a lot of experience or at all anymore since it's been a long time, but I want to try it again and learn experience during my time in this community but I do not personally see it as a disadvantage. Everyone needs to learn from one point. It requires seriousness and commitment

All I want is for everyone to have fun and to play fair as it should be.

(Sorry for adding this later it didn't cross my mind)

I am actually French so i could take care of French related problems or translate to English if needed or vice-versa.

Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, Include details: A long time ago on some servers i would be fooling around when i was under 18 years old. It was fun to break the rules sometimes but now I realize that rules are meant to be here for a reason, to follow them. The servers were mostly RP related. i was mostly punished or warned, no bans.

Have you made any previous applications, If so when?: The previous application was from four days ago for this role, but I got refused.

How much time do you have to contribute to the role?:

I would contribute to 2 hours to 5 hours per day or more if necessary as of right now, when it will be around May and June, i'll be available every afternoon except Mondays and Tuesday evenings from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm since i work only the morning's with my current job, which is a civic duty job that finishes end of June, which i'll talk about further in "Activities". Of course I'll be here for long periods of time the weekends, give or take 5 hours per day of the weekend.

If you have any, what hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of Garry's Mod?: I play mostly video games at home everyday when I don't work, like I previously stated before.

I volunteered (and still am) in my old high school to be part of a civic duty job which is to watch over a place called the "House of High-Schoolers" (Basically where everyone that doesn't have class comes to chill or eat something) on the mornings, I basically have to watch for the people there and serve them what they want, watch out for any suspicious behaviour and everything and animate with some games or fun activites! I started in January 2024, it's fun and I personally enjoy it. So i'm used to handling people that are under 18 years old and how to act towards them. My contract finishes on the 30th of June 2024.

I plan in the future to become maybe one of the supervisors at this high school as my first new job which would basically give the same responsabilities as my civic duty but it would be more serious than ever, but for now I do not know, even if that happens it's only 50% so basically I would work half time so I will still have plenty time to moderate and hang around on the server.

I play a lot of video games online or on my phone mostly since video games is my passion.

Did you read the staff rules?: Florentb18

I like how you're honest about the past experience. Also like that you mention "Everyone needs to learn from one point." I strongly agree with that.

I haven't been around you that much in game, but you seem like a person who is nice and respectable but also who knows what to do correctly. but I am willing to say that I would be happy to have you on with us!

It's very nice stuff you wrote in the point "Why should we choose you over other applicants?:" but litteraly you gave us the following points:

  • Why you applied again (Which i don't care about in if it's for you to reason why we should choose you and because it's your second one doesn't make it better)

  • you don't have any experience and everyone needs to learn stuff (You are recycling stuff from another point stop talking around the point)

  • And as some short sentences that you want a fair game and also that you can speak french (That's basicly all you have for this point the other stuff was utter nonsense)

This application is all in all from the text quantity great but the quality is horrendous. You didn't really gave us for how much you wrote any great reasoning or anything you didn't gave any good traits that would show us that you can be a great moderator, you in what i read are just a french guy with a good linguistic trait. And the other stuff you wrote was way too much you gave us a whole biography of you. You should keep it simple and still be able to give us a brief glance at what you do.

You saying that you have little experience in the staff role just doesn't help you a bit. It could even ruin your chanced becoming a mod/staff.

If you have barely any experience in the staff role, then you're in a way, not capable to moderate the server.

I suggest you to not type anything about your past applications because that doesn't help us or you.

Only good thing I see in your application is, that you're bilingual.

Try next time and stay blessed.

I do precise that this is my personal opinion, i'm sincerely sorry if i'm offending anyone that is part of the staff by just talking about it here.

I appreciate all of your opinions, but I have some questions from my own if you don't mind me talking about it.

Especially about some of your arguments.

1. Axol: "If you have barely any experience in the staff role, then you're in a way, not capable to moderate the server/ You saying that you have little experience in the staff role just doesn't help you a bit. It could even ruin your chanced becoming a mod/staff."

If I am not wrong, i've seen other applications from accepted staff, and some of them didn't have or had very minimal knowledge. (Please correct me if i'm wrong.)

2. Axol: "I suggest you to not type anything about your past applications because that doesn't help us or you."

I'm sorry to disagree, but one of the first things that is important is Honesty, if not, how can you trust your colleagues?

You are basically indirectly asking me to lie about my application. (No offense Axol.)

3. Yenno: "And as some short sentences that you want a fair game and also that you can speak french (That's basicly all you have for this point the other stuff was utter nonsense)"

Please elaborate when you say "utter nonsense", because you got me confused on some parts. I thought that being a Moderator needed some seriousness and actual commitment, if not.. how are you supposed to do a good job?

4. Yenno: "Why you applied again (Which i don't care about in if it's for you to reason why we should choose you and because it's your second one doesn't make it better)"

Same thing that i said about Axol's comment about my application.

5. Yenno: "you don't have any experience and everyone needs to learn stuff (You are recycling stuff from another point stop talking around the point)"

Recycling stuff from another point? Can you please precise where exactly I reused the same argument in my application. I am just stating facts about life in general.

And that's about it.
I could be completely wrong about my reasoning so i'll be gladly taking your opinion about this in full detail.

Thank you for taking your time to read this comment.

I tried to write this out but it looks like a ChatGPT essay. Feel free to read anyway.

Choosing someone for a staff position in a video game community involves careful consideration (joke), as they essentially become representatives of the community itself. As well as the fact that this community and it's staff team represents Gentoi as a content creator.

  1. Self-Improvement and Reflection: Florent acknowledges his previous shortcomings, particularly in his younger years, but emphasizes personal growth and understanding of the importance of rules and regulations. This maturity and willingness to learn from past mistakes are commendable traits for a staff member.

  2. Commitment and Availability: Florent pledges a substantial amount of time to the role, indicating a strong commitment to contributing positively to the community. Their availability, especially during weekends and evenings, ensures consistent support for players and fellow staff members.

  3. Multilingual Abilities: Being French, Florent brings language skills that could prove invaluable in addressing French-speaking players' concerns or translating content as needed. This enhances inclusivity and accessibility within the community.

  4. Relevant Experience: Although lacking recent formal staff experience, Florent's current involvement in a civic duty job demonstrates experience in handling responsibilities, interacting with people, and ensuring safety and order—a skill set directly applicable to a staff role in a gaming community.

  5. Passion for Gaming and Community Building: Florent's enthusiasm for video games, evident in their daily engagement with gaming, aligns with the community's interests. Furthermore, their involvement in the high school's activities showcases a genuine desire to create a positive and welcoming environment for others, a crucial aspect of community building in gaming.

  6. Not willing to take disrespect: Florent showed that he's able to counter-argue politely, respectfully, civilly and formally without getting angry. Which we can see by his comment above.

In summary, Florentb18 presents themselves as a dedicated, mature, and engaged member of the community, with valuable skills, availability, and a genuine desire to contribute positively. While lacking recent formal staff experience, their willingness to learn and grow, coupled with their multilingual abilities and relevant life experiences, make them a strong candidate for the staff role in the video game community.

And you read the rules. :)

Good luck! - Pill Pack Management Team

This application is lengthy and well put together. Florent, you did an amazing job and you are not young. This shows me that you are capable of critical thinking and that this was not a subconscious or a throwaway application. To you, it may be nothing but to us, this is the first impression as far as we are concerned.

Rooting for you. Good luck.

After reading this application, I don't think it's the skills you possess, rather how you act and the assets you bring.

I like the actual re apply, and reflection that you did. It shows you can reflect on your actions and adapt to be better.

I feel with this new application you can be a great pier to work with, keep up and i hope you get accepted.

Cheers, Reapers~

"I thought that being a Moderator needed some seriousness and actual commitment, if not.. how are you supposed to do a good job?"

Yes, while that is true your wording is the point i hate you say all this what you need but you never actually say that you have these traits which lets me belive you do not have those traits.

"You are basically indirectly asking me to lie about my application."

No, here it's your structur of the application. You put this in the part where you present yourself to us make us want to have you in our staff team but you instead talk about something I would personally do in a other point or as a whole new point. This makes you seem unflexible and fixated on this format for applying.

"Recycling stuff from another point? Can you please precise where exactly I reused the same argument in my application. I am just stating facts about life in general."

Ok, you used the point that you don't have any to none real experience from the point "Past experiences as staff:". And yes you were just stating facts about life in general but how is that going help if you should try to get favored instead of give me another feeling that your just talking and can't show anything you wrote in this application. At the end it's like when your grandma tells you you should not do this but she herself does that all the time. You should prove the stuff anybody could just say some facts abt life in general that doesn't prove me that they themselfs live like the facts tell me to be.
